MCS Board of Ed Bans Dozens of Books
Is anyone surprised it didn’t stop with “Flamer” and “Earl”?
Us either, dear readers. Us either.
Good afternoon! We had hoped to give you a light break to catch up on your Christmas shopping.
Sadly, we’re back! This time, it’s to inform you of all of the books that book banners Jason Waters, Jaillene Hunter, Angela Orange, and Jeff DeJarnett think are too dangerous for the eyes of your wee baby high schoolers.
Yes, we left AB, Kerry, and Irene off this list – everybody knows they ain’t got a dog in this fight.
You are likely unsurprised to realize that more than half of the banned books feature – you guessed it! – LGBTQ+ themes and characters. It will not be a very gay holiday season at all, this year, dear readers. Don your straight apparel only here at Marietta City Schools!
We thank the board mightily for doing their due diligence in Keeping Our Children Safe! The words in these books, which no student, teacher, or staff member has ever complained about or been harmed by, were surely causing serious damage. Moms for Liberty will be very proud of you.
The list is pasted below, and when the already banned Flamer and Earl are included, that brings us to a total of 25 books banned.
To all of you wondering how we got here. How a once data-driven, student-focused school board has become a haven for anti-intellectual book banners. Elections. That’s how we got here, gentle readers. Elections. And a new election will be here before you know it. Remember.
