Marietta in the Middle Coat Drive
Help us fill up the coat closets in the Marietta City Schools District
Friends, it may be raining cats and dogs this week, but we all remember just how cold it was last week as Marietta temperatures plummeted to the single digits. Our schools have coat closets, so Marietta in the Middle is doing a coat drive from now until February 9, 2024 to restock those closets and make sure all our schools are prepared to meet the needs of their students when the weather turns cold again.
Three churches and a hospital have agreed to be drop off points for coats in the community. You can drop off your coats at Marietta First Baptist Church, Marietta First United Methodist Church, and Marietta First Presbyterian church during the hours their Welcome Centers are open. Marietta First Baptist is collecting coats under the chapel, but you’ll need to enter through their Welcome Center to access that. You can also drop off your coats at the Wellstar Kennestone Emergency Department.
Students in our schools need all sizes of coats from 3T to Adult 4XL. We did some quick porch pickups of coat donations and dropped them off at one of our elementary schools last Wednesday because they didn’t have the smallest sizes or Adult M to XL sizes in their closet that they needed that day. We were heartened, but not surprised, at how quickly our community responded to that need on short notice.
Thank you so much for your generosity! If you have any extra coats at home that you were thinking about donating, we’d love to take them off your hands.
